The SoCal Dog Trainer
About: More About Charlene
I LOVE training dogs, and I LOVE working with my clients to help them achieve their goals with their dogs!
Growing up I was the kid that wished I lived on a farm and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. By the time I was ten years old I could proudly name all the AKC breeds, by memory, in alphabetical order, and had checked out all the animal books out of the library several times! I started volunteering at my local animal shelter when I was only nine years old helping clean cages, bathe and exercise the dogs, and even fundraised money to build a much needed quarantine room for the shelter in my teenage years. By the time I was in my early twenties I was hired by PetsMart to train dogs. Working at PetsMart was an invaluable opportunity for me to work with thousands of dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Additionally, I worked hand in hand with Pet Parents helping thousands of my clients successfully achieve their goals with their dogs. Through the years I have also rescued, trained and re-homed nearly a dozen dogs. In the end, my life's path became dog training, not veterinary medicine, and I couldn't be happier!
Through the years I have attended numerous dog training seminars with such speakers as Dr Nicholas Dodman, and Karen Pryor to name a few. Moreover, I regularly compete in AKC competitive obedience and Schutzhund, and look forward to competing in agility, nose work, and french ring in the future.
In addition, I have my Bachelors in Arts in Psychology from University of California, San Diego. My husband and I have two daughters, along with my Rottweiler, Hennessy Monster Vom Eschenhagen BH, CD and my Chihuahua/Jack Russell, Nemesis Goddess of Revenge CD
